Ryders Hayes Supporting Reception Education Across the West Midlands

Ryders Hayes School, part of Primary Learning Trust, is proud to be one of five schools across the West Midlands supporting the delivery of the Department for Education's Reception Networks programme.

As part of the Reception Improvement Offer, the network provides a valuable opportunity for Reception teachers and school leaders to collaborate, share effective practice and explore approaches to strengthening Early Years education.

Through a series of online network sessions, practitioners have explored key topics, including successful transitions into Reception, supporting children and families, the Reception Baseline Assessment, and the latest guidance and resources from the Department for Education.

A key strength of the network has been its collaborative approach, with participants sharing experiences, discussing challenges, and considering practical strategies they can adapt to their own school environments.

Feedback has highlighted the value of these opportunities, with one participant commenting:

"Really practical advice and lovely to hear about what lots of different settings have done."

Another praised the opportunity to share ideas and approaches rather than being presented with a single way of working.

Looking ahead, Ryders Hayes will continue developing the network, providing opportunities for professional discussion, sharing resources and supporting practitioners to reflect on and enhance their Reception provision.

Through this work, the school is helping build a supportive professional community focused on ensuring every child receives the best possible start to their education.
