Our Story

We are a family of schools, proud to work together as one entity, fostering the ideal conditions for deep and purposeful collaboration. We are committed to creating a place where our children, people, and community can learn, work, and grow.

Primary Learning Trust was established in September 2024 when Ryders Hayes School converted from a Single Academy Trust to a Multi-Academy Trust. Ryders Hayes was a Primary Conversion Academy in 2011.

In September 2024, Ryders Hayes Academy and New Invention Learning Academy (formally New Invention Juniors) became a part of Primary Learning Trust and the founder schools.

The Trust firmly believes in building solid foundations for a sustainable future.

Our Purpose

Is to raise and sustain high educational standards across the Trust through evidence-informed practices, continuously improving teaching and learning to ensure every pupil receives the best possible education. We hold a deep responsibility to our children, striving to achieve the best for them and from our people, so that everyone can flourish.

By working as one, we embrace our civic duty to advance the education system for the wider public benefit, creating a place where learning, working, and growing happen together in harmony, creating a sense of belonging.

At PLT, we empower not only our children but also our people to continuously innovate and lead, working together and collaborating to build a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Our People

All adults in PLT, working together, in the right conditions for deep and purposeful collaboration, to improve teaching and learning and ensure pupils have the best possible education.

Talent and expertise are nurtured to create a sustainable pipeline of passionate leaders and educators.

Our People feel connected, valued, trusted and fulfilled, with a shared purpose to achieve excellence, in a place of psychological safety.

Our Community

Each school, with its own unique identity, serves as an anchor institution within its community, providing stability, support, and a sense of belonging. Our schools not only offer education but also foster connections, nurturing relationships that span generations and strengthen local ties. As centers of learning, growth, and collaboration, they play a crucial role in shaping the lives of children and their families, helping to build resilient, engaged communities.

By embracing their distinct cultures and responding to the specific needs of their communities, our schools become more than just educational spaces—they become cornerstones of community life.

Our PLT Logo

Reflects the vision and values of Primary Learning Trust, created by Sally Miner, CEO/Executive Head Teacher of Ryders Hayes School in 2024, who served the school and its community for 23 years before retiring.

Unity and Belonging: The three figures standing side by side with open arms represent community, collaboration, and inclusivity. They symbolise the idea that the trust is a "family of schools" where everyone belongs and supports one another.

Growth and Flourishing: The figures' upward-reaching arms indicate aspiration, growth, and achievement, mirroring the trust’s goal to create an environment "where everyone flourishes." The upward movement represents progress and continuous development for our people.

Diversity and Inclusion: The different colours for each figure highlight diversity, as the trust values and celebrates individuality. It reflects an inclusive approach, ensuring that all children, regardless of background, are nurtured and supported.

The initials "PLT" on each figure symbolise the trust's identity, grounding the sense of community within the shared mission of primary education.

Circle of Support: The circular shape represents unity and completeness, symbolising the trust’s supportive and holistic approach to education, where children, staff, and the community work together.

Our Principles

  • A primary only education charity (including a strong focus on Early Years)

  • With a strong focus on learning for all, through: a sense of belonging; strong moral code; inclusivity; personal development, and enrichment opportunities

  • Led by driven and committed Trustees and Trust Leaders, who hold trust on behalf of their children, and want the best for and from their people, so that everyone can flourish and live well together, with hope for the future.

  • Each school, with its own unique identity, serving its community as an anchor institution

  • Evidence-informed, outward-facing and collaborative

  • Nurturing talent and expertise to create a sustainable pipeline of passionate leaders and educators

  • Acting within the 3 domains of educational leadership within the system (Trust, Civic, and System Leadership)

  • Not limited by geographical boundaries

  • Development, growth and retention of the Trust workforce, providing a firm foundation for life-long learning for all ...

…So that every child and all PLT people joining our Trust can flourish, be empowered through the opportunities that our children and staff have today, with aspiration and hope for the future.
