What better way to celebrate World Mental Health Day than with a milestone that truly embodies our commitment to mental health and wellbeing?

Today, we are thrilled to announce that our children have achieved an incredible 500 Stormbreaks—a testament to their dedication, resilience, and enthusiasm for integrating movement and mindfulness into their daily routines.

What is Stormbreak?

For those unfamiliar, Stormbreak is a transformative programme that merges physical movement with mental health support. It encourages children to engage in fun, active exercises that are designed to help them build resilience, manage emotions, and develop healthy coping strategies. Whether it's through calming activities like "Breathe and Be" or energising moments of movement, each Stormbreak is a step towards fostering emotional health in our children.

At Primary Learning Trust, we believe that every child should have the tools they need to navigate their emotions, and Stormbreak has become a powerful part of our approach to achieving that. It’s not just about fitness—it's about creating a strong foundation for mental wellbeing that our children can carry into the future.

Rocking Yellow for Mental Health Awareness

To show our support for World Mental Health Day, children across our schools have been wearing bright yellow accessories—symbolising hope, happiness, and a shared commitment to breaking the stigma around mental health. The sight of our children and staff coming together in a sea of yellow has been a joyful reminder that we’re all in this together.

Tea and Talk for Our Staff

Mental health isn’t just a priority for our children —it’s essential for our staff as well. Today, we encouraged our incredible team to take time out for a Tea and Talk session, creating space for meaningful conversations and mutual support. Along with a hot drink, staff were treated to some thoughtful goodies, including affirmation cards, motivational stickers, and journals to support their own wellbeing. After all, a happy and supported team leads to happier, more supported children.

As we celebrate 500 Stormbreaks and reflect on the importance of mental health, let’s continue to make it a priority for everyone—children and staff alike. Together, we are building a culture where emotional and mental wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

Here’s to many more Stormbreaks and a future filled with happy, resilient, and thriving learners!
